The Northeast Supply Enhancement project (NESE) is critical to New York’s energy future. “It makes basic sense” to deliver abundant, reliable natural gas to customers in downstate NY while renewable energy scales over the next few decades. Until NESE is approved, National Grid has issued a gas moratorium across NYC and Long Island.
“Because of this freeze on new service, restaurants can’t get the needed gas supply to cook and heat their facilities. This translates into vacant store fronts, loss of employment and desolate downtowns... We cannot allow petty politics or big egos to derail our local economy."
